So without further ado…

Menopause Fitness Mistake #1:
Are You Exercising Enough?

Or is it actually too much?

I wanted to start with this one right out of the gate in this series because it’s a biggie. And it surprises a lot of women.

Now yes, if you’re not exercising enough (at the moment at least – you’re here because you want to make a change, right? 🙌), this is clearly a problem. Why? Because our bodies are made to move.

I’m sure at some time in your life you’ve probably heard the saying, “Move it or lose it,” right? And it’s true.

If you’re not moving it, you’re gonna lose it. Not those extra menopause pounds you’re hoping will magically drop off. No. What we’re talking about losing here is muscle. Losing strength. Losing your MOBILITY… your very ability to move.

Sadly, I watched my Mom fall into this camp. A life-long self-described non-exerciser, as she got older and her health declined (and I’m talking high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer here – three diseases that could have been improved or perhaps prevented entirely with regular exercise), so too did her mobility decline. FAST.

I’m pretty sure you’ll be with me on this, but not being able to do the things I love or physically struggling to perform regular daily tasks is NO WHERE CLOSE to how I envision my future or how I desire to age.

Move it or lose it, but…

So getting enough of the right types of exercise is critically important to not only look better, but FEEL better, have more energy and enjoy a much better quality of life for much longer. #AgeAwesomely.

And if you’ve not been exercising, worry not! It’s NEVER too late to start, and start benefitting from a suitable, regular exercise plan.

But is it actually possible to be exercising too much??!

Yep. I know this flies in the face of much of the popular fitness advice out there, but here’s the truth… more is not always better.

For a peri or menopausal woman, either too much exercise in general or too much of the wrong type of exercise is a mistake that could be aggravating your symptoms, adding to your frustration and preventing you from seeing results.
